SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Just in time for Halloween, a new study says South Dakotans think “The Thing” is the scariest movie.
That’s according to data compiled by Comparitech.com, a technology firm.
“The Thing” was released in 1982. It is about a group of American scientists in the Antarctic who discover a creature that can change shape–and is picking them off one by one.
The most popular horror movies for surrounding states according to Comparitech:
- North Dakota–“The Omen,” 1976
- Iowa–“Alien,” 1979
- Nebraska–“Hellraiser,” 1987
- Montana–“American Psycho,” 2000
- Wyoming–“It,” 2017
- Minnesota–“The Invisible Man,” 1933
The tech company used data from Internet Movie Database and Google Trends for its list.
