GARRETSON, S.D. (KELO.com) — A 28-year-old Minnesota woman was at Palisades State Park when she fell 80 feet into the water on Monday evening.
Witnesses saw her hit some rocks on her way down.
Minnesota County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Dubbe says the woman was with two men who jumped off the cliff on purpose, but she got cold feet, and then slipped off accidentally.
Dubbe says it’s amazing she suffered only minor injuries, but she was able to partially break her fall on the way down.
Several law enforcement agencies from Minnehaha County and Garretson arrived on the scene around 5:30 p.m.
Rescue crews were able to get her out of the water a short time later.
She was taken to a local hospital, and authorities say her injuries appeared to be minor.
