SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota has the lowest incidence of the omicron variant of the coronavirus in the nation.
The CDC estimates that 0.04% of covid cases in South Dakota are omicron.
Four other states, including Wyoming, had the same low percentage.
The CDC cautions, however, that the actual percentage of cases could be much higher.
The incidence rates were arrived at by testing samples from all the states.
Rhode Island had the highest estimated omicron rate at 2.5%.
