PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Pierre Fire Department Rescue Squad and Dive Team recovers the body of a Sioux Falls man from lower Lake Oahe Saturday.
Pierre Fire Assistant Chief Paula Tronvold says first responders were dispatched around 10:20 Saturday morning.
Tronvold says authorities a search of the surrounding area and shoreline turned up no indication of a missing person.
Tronvold says Pierre Rescue crews and officers from the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department used multiple boats and sonar technology to search below the surface of the lake.
The body was recovered in approximately 20 feet of water. Tronvold says the man was not wearing a personal flotation device. A Sioux Falls address was on file for the individual whose name has not been released.
The incident is being investigated by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department.
