Sioux Falls Police explain why they upgraded charges against a man who accidentally shot a woman, killing her unborn baby.
Sheldon Robert Pettibone is charged with second-degree manslaughter now, as well as a weapons charge.
“The whole reason for this charge came from the coroner’s office,” Officer Sam Clemens said at today’s police briefing. “So we’ve been working from our end on the investigation and the coroner made his determination that the unborn child died as a result of the gunshot wound.”
