SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Authorities have been monitoring a young moose in north Sioux Falls this morning.
One report had the moose near the S.D. Department of Transportation Building near 60th Street North.
A witness also saw the moose south of Hartford (photo above).
Sioux Falls Animal Control Officer Julie DeJong has been monitoring the moose as he wanders around a cornfield near Marion Road and I-90. At one point, DeJong reports, the moose actually took a nap. Authorities are hoping that when he wakes up, he continues out of the Sioux Falls area and doesn’t hit any cars.
He is a bull moose. You can see the antlers.
DeJong says moose sightings in Sioux Falls are more common than you might think. She says this is the third moose in the Sioux Falls area in the past four years.
