BERESFORD, S.D. (KELO.com) — One man was killed and two others hurt in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 near Beresford Wednesday morning.
Names of those involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
The State Highway Patrol says a semi-truck southbound on Interstate 29 lost a tire and rim. The tire and rim were hit by a pickup in the northbound lane. The pickup lost control, crossed the median and struck a van in the southbound lanes. A fourth vehicle became involved when it swerved to miss the van.
The driver of the van was killed. His passenger was hurt. A passenger in another vehicle was also injured.
Both northbound lanes were closed to traffic for almost three hours and southbound traffic was reduced to one lane for three hours
