WATERTOWN, S.D. (KELO.com) — More than 55 million travelers are making plans to kick off the holiday season with a trip of 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving next week, and the potential is there that they could encounter a winter storm along the way in the upper Midwest.
James Telken is a forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen. He says most weather models carry a potential storm further south into Kansas and Oklahoma.

This will be the second-highest Thanksgiving travel volume since AAA began tracking in 2000, trailing only the record set in 2005.
