WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO.com) — Congressman Dusty Johnson says he’s waited a long time for this. The House has finally approved the USMCA.
“After 380 days of waiting, I was proud, ecstatic even, to vote for the US, Mexico, Canada Agreement on the House floor.”
Johnson says the now-approved deal means $2 billion more in ag exports for the nation.
“It’s the shot in the arm our country needs as we head into 2020.”
Governor Kristi Noem says the USMCA is chock-full of wins for South Dakota.
“Through the USMCA, Canada’s unfair milk pricing will be eliminated so South Dakota dairy farmers gain more export opportunities,” Noem also says poultry producers will have new access for chicken and egg exports and it will mean new opportunities for soybeans and corn.
Former Congresswoman Noem is also taking some of the credit.
“I was proud to help negotiate this agreement when I served in Congress.”
