SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO.com) — Sen. Mike Rounds said he believes new federal trade deals will provide a much-needed boost to the Midwest’s agricultural economy.
Speaking on the Greg Belfrage Show Thursday, Rounds acknowledged how American farmers have had a tough few years. He said the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and the United States’ partial trade agreement with China will help “turn this thing around.”
“I think we’re finally starting to see a turn on this stuff, with the trade,” Rounds said. “Hopefully this is going to start reflecting itself in our markets on commodity prices.”
Rounds said he and his colleagues in the Senate are working to get the USMCA approved as soon as they can.
