DES MOINES, IA (KELO.com) — All 245 Hy-Vee Grocery stores will no longer be open 24/7.
The stores in Sioux Falls will shorten hours from 5 a.m. to Midnight, seven days a week. All other stores are also cutting back hours, some to Midnight, others to 11 p.m.
Hy-Vee’s Christine Gayman says fewer hours does not mean fewer employees.
“This is a reallocation of hours. It’s not a cut. So we are just taking those exact hours and moving them to day time positions.”
Gayman says the reallocation will allow Hy-Vee to best serve its customers at the busiest times.
The big change starts Monday, February 10.
Hy-Vee is a powerhouse in the Midwest, with stores in Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
