PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — A resolution set to hit the House floor Tuesday honors a Watertown tow truck driver killed on the job.
Rep. Nancy York is introducing legislation to designate the month of June as “Move Over Month” in South Dakota.
June is the birth month of Dale Jones, a Watertown truck driver who was hit by a car on January 4 while trying to pull a vehicle out of a ditch.
York called Jones “a friend of all of ours,” adding the resolution honors “people across the country that have suffered losses because of people that are not paying attention when they’re seeing tow trucks and so on on the side of the road.”
York said neon will be the official color of the awareness campaign, a nod to the color workers like Jones wear.
