SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The $186 million redevelopment of the old Sioux Steel site in downtown Sioux Falls will include a seven-story up-scale hotel, overlooking Falls Park.
Lloyd Companies has released details of its project that also will include a eight-story mixed-use parking ramp, surrounded by apartments.
Lloyd hopes to break ground in the Spring.
The Sioux Steel site is a prime 7 acres along the Big Sioux River. Sioux Steel had occupied the site for 100 years before deciding to move and redevelop it.
The new hotel will be a Canopy by Hilton with 217 rooms, a restaurant, and a ballroom. It will be connected to the rest of the project by a skywalk.
“We’re thrilled to see this plan moving closer to a groundbreaking,” Lloyd CEO Chris Thorkelson says, “To secure a Canopy hotel speaks volumes about this location and our community, which has triggered our next steps to bring this concept forward and truly begin creating a new, one-of-a-kind destination for Sioux Falls.”
