SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken testifies before a Congressional subcommittee next week on 5-G broadband.
He is appearing before the subcommittee on communications and technology chaired by Sen. John Thune.
Sioux Falls is one of the first cities of any size in the United States to implement 5G coverage.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, will convene a hearing titled, “The Evolution of Next-Generation Technologies: Implementing MOBILE NOW,” at 10:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, December 5, 2019. The hearing will examine the implementation of several mandates required by the Making Opportunities for Broadband Investment and Limiting Excessive and Needless Obstacles to Wireless (MOBILE NOW) Act. Witnesses, including Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken, will discuss MOBILE NOW’s spectrum provisions and the streamlining of broadband infrastructure on federal lands, among other things. Thune is the author of the MOBILE NOW Act, which was signed into law in 2018.
