SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — In recent years the war on Meth here in South Dakota has been tough and even demoralizing. Splintering homes, packing jails and cluttering our courts. But this year South Dakota with the aid of local and state government has ramped up its efforts in stomping out this wildfire that’s sweeping the state.
The first big bust of the year in Sioux Falls happened when authorities responded to a robbery at a Walmart back in January. Police made three arrests and seized six pounds of Meth.
Fast Forward to November where Kelo.com news was able to catch up with Sioux Falls Police Chief Matt Burns. In an attempt to try and get the facts, and understand the current state of the epidemic here on our streets.
Burns said, Though the original arrest numbers might be down this year, it’s only because the size of the cases has taken a lot more time from their drug task force, but the amount that they get off the street will be well worth it.
