SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Mayor Paul TenHaken says 2019 was a year of resilience and strength in Sioux Falls.
“Resilience from the weather events we had this year, which were very tough. The spring flooding, the tornadoes, getting through those, getting through the financial impact of those.”
“Strength in our economy, the growth of the city, kind of the strong financial position we continue to find ourselves in..”
And TenHaken says Sioux Falls doubled down on culture and the arts in 2019, especially with the partnership with philanthropist Denny Sanford for the substantial completion of the historic State Theater downtown.
He says downtown development pressed on, the city stayed tough on narcotics, and Sioux Falls became a national leader in 5G technology.
“Sioux Falls had much to be thankful for in 2019. While reminiscing on the past is certainly warranted, I am excited for what 2020 has in store for us,” says TenHaken.
