SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The man Sioux Falls Police consider a “person of interest” in an abduction and death of a Sioux Falls woman has been arrested on a similar charge for a different incident.
Amir, Hasan Beaudion, Jr., 19, of Sioux Falls, is the person of interest in the abduction of a woman, last seen getting into her car near Arrowhead Parkway earlier this week.
The body of Pasqalina Esen Badi was later found by the side of the road in southern Sioux Falls.
Beaudion is under arrest for kidnapping in the first degree and aggravated assault in the first degree from a New Years Day incident at the Hy-Vee on East 10th Street.
According to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant, authorities allege that Beaudion attempted to kidnap a woman who was getting into her car after going to the store early that morning. The victim says had been sitting on the electric carts in the doorway then approached her as she opened her car door. She says Beaudion threatened her with a knife and said he would kill her if she did not comply.
The victim says Beaudion pushed her out of the driver’s seat, across the console, and into the passenger’s seat. She says he tried to drive off but the car did not have the keys in the ignition and had been started remotely.
The victim says Beuadion panicked and fled the scene.
Police picked up Beaudion during a traffic stop yesterday near West 41st Street and Interstate 29.
The affidavit says Beaudion did not try to steal the car or kidnap the victim but said the victim spoke little English. He said he needed a ride. He thought it would just be easier to drive the car himself. He also said his pocket knife just fell out of his pocket and he did not threaten the victim.
Beaudion has a lengthy criminal record in South Dakota. He has pending or reopened charges ranging from gun violations to assault against a law enforcement officer to petty theft to the current charges in the above mentioned attempted kidnapping.
