SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It’s not every day that news occurs ten feet away from the radio station.
Today was that day.
About 3:30 p.m., Sioux Falls Police pulled over the driver of a late model Audi on Phillips Avenue before 13th Street across the sidewalk from KELO Radio and Midwest Communications Radio.
There were three black and white radio cars and one unmarked police vehicle in on a search warrant in connection with a drug investigation.
The man in the car who looked to be in his mid to late 20s, sat in the backseat of the unmarked SUV as officers–some in tactical gear–searched the black automobile with Lincoln County plates.
When asked about what was going on, one of the officers said, “All I can say is it is a search warrant.”
MWC Radio staff said they saw the police take two grocery sized sacks of evidence from the car but didn’t know what it was.
A little before 3:45 p.m., police drove off with the driver of the black Audi.
Police information officer Sam Clemens says the traffic stop “is part of an ongoing drug investigation” and that he couldn’t say anything else about the matter at this time. We hope to learn more details at tomorrow’s daily police briefing.
