SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A strong winter storm will be pushing northeast into the area early this morning.
Initial snowfall rates around an inch per hour, along with southeast winds gusting at 30 to 40 mph will likely produce difficult travel conditions and limited visibility.
A lull in the wind Friday evening should come along with precipitation changing to a light wintry mix.
This could produce some icing problems.
As winds switch around to the west or northwest Friday night into Saturday morning, speeds will be increasing to 25 to 45 mph, with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
This will be accompanied by light snow, blowing snow, and probable drifting. If you have travel plans Friday or Saturday, please consider altering or canceling your trip.
