SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The National Weather Service says the city has already received half a foot of snow.
The snowfall total through 1 pm at the Sioux Falls airport is 5.8 inches.
KELO.com News received a report from Harrisburg, three miles south of Sioux Falls, of people having difficulties getting out of their driveways.

The FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Alexandria, Madison, Mitchell and Plankinton closed permanently–and early–today at 1:00 p.m. The Plankinton location will not reopen tomorrow as previously scheduled.

Governor Kristi Noem ordered most state executive offices in South Dakota closed at 1 p.m. today because of the winter storm. In the immediate KELO Radio listening area, that includes Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, McCook, Lake, and Moody Counties.

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s five community centers, the Midco Aquatic Center, and all ice rinks are closed today (Friday) and tomorrow due to weather. Facilities will open Sunday, weather permitting.

Great Bear Recreation Park is closed Friday and Saturday. It may reopen Sunday, weather permitting.

The 31st annual Media One FunSki benefiting Children’s Inn at Great Bear Saturday is canceled. This is the first time in the history of the event that it has been canceled.
