SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Former Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether says he still has an itch for public service.
“I was able to scratch it in a phenomenal way when I was blessed to serve as mayor, but to tell you that that itch does not continue today would not be truthful.”
But Huether is coy discussing his political future with Kelo.com News. Other than saying he thinks about it, he makes no big announcements or holds forth on no specific plans.
So too, when we ask him how he thinks the city has been run since he left office in 2018. He doesn’t wade into any controversies.
“I want great things to happen for Sioux Falls, but, at the same time, I realize I am not the mayor anymore so right now, I’m just cheering it on from the sidelines.”
Huether says he’s just as busy these days as he was back then. He’s got his new book, his TV show, and his grandchildren. But people keep popping the political question wherever he goes.
“I think about this, not only whenever I’m asked, but I think about it all the time.”
