SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A new month but the same old crimes continue.
Here are highlights from Tuesday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
WE’RE FROM THE SHERIFF AND WE’RE HERE TO HELP–NOT
A 64-year-old Sioux Falls woman is scammed out of $2,500 in gift cards.
Sioux Falls Police said the scammer called the woman and said she had outstanding warrants to pay off.
They claimed to be with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
They ran her around town to collect the gift cards.
After giving the gift card numbers to the scammers, she called the police.
The police say there is little chance they’ll be able to recover the money.
They say this is a common scam.
ANOTHER ROBBERY IN CENTRAL SIOUX FALLS
Sioux Falls Police are looking for a couple of bad guys who robbed a man early Tuesday morning in the 8th and Minnesota area.
The victim says one of the robbers showed a gun in his waistband.
They took the victim’s cell phone and wallet.
Police say they have a vague description of the scofflaws.
