SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here are some of the highlights from the files of the Sioux Falls Police Department from their daily briefing.
- MAN BEATS, KICKS, DRAGS WOMAN
A Sioux Falls man faces a variety of charges after being arrested for beating his girlfriend them pulling her out of a car by her hair.
Justin Adrian Phaengdara, 26, from Sioux Falls is accused of beating on the inside of the victim’s car and hitting and kicking her.
A passenger in the backseat tried to intervene in the attack.
The woman, 22, was not seriously hurt.
- BOY SAYS MAN IN WHITE PICK UP STALKED HIM
Sioux Falls Police are investigating who was following a nine-year-old boy walking to school last Friday morning.
Police say the boy reported a man in a white pick up following him as he walked to Hawthorne Elementary near 2nd and Spring Avenue.
The boy said the man then got out of the truck and followed him, not saying anything.
The youngster said he ran off and reported the incident once he got to school.
The police say they don’t have any other similar reports.
The boy was unharmed.
- BABY KIDNAPPED, FOUND SAFE
Authorities arrest a woman in the kidnapping of a one-year-old baby.
Sioux Falls Police arrested Wacinhin Rae Bearstops, 29, a transient, Friday evening at a motel on the southwest side of Sioux Falls.
She went to a home where a distant relative was taking care of six children.
The caregiver noticed the one-year-old was missing after Bearstops left and called the police.
Bearstops is charged with second-degree kidnapping.
The baby was unharmed.
- MAN STABBED IN BACK, FOREGOES POLICE COOPERATION
A man stabbed in the back this weekend is not cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
That’s according to the Sioux Falls Police.
However, the police say there are some other witnesses to the incident they are talking to.
