SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakotans are more dependent on their cars than people from most other states, according to a new report.
A study by CompareCarInsurance.com says South Dakota is the 11th-most car-dependent state in the U.S.
The study says the average South Dakotan drives 12,955 miles every year compared to 11,621 miles per year for the country as a whole. 90% of workers in South Dakota commute by car.
Nebraska and North Dakota were 1-2 overall in the rankings. Alaska finished last.
