Garretson, S.D. (KELO.com) — Bird watching enthusiasts are celebrating the return of a great horned owl at Palisades State Park by Garretson, South Dakota. Park officials say it looks like a nest will be appearing again and ask visitors to give the owl space to care for her young.
Last spring, bird watchers flocked to the park and had a hoot watching from Balancing Rock Trail as the owl raised her owlets.
The upper road of Palisades is closed yet for the winter and is under construction. It’s expected to be open by the end of April. Visitors can still access Balancing Rock Trail from the South Wall Trail.
