The Jackrabbits bounced back from last week’s crushing home to No. 1 North Dakota State in a big way, mauling Missouri State 35-14 on Saturday.
South Dakota State moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest FCS Coaches Poll, while the Bison remained the unanimous No. 1 (all 26 first-place votes) after throttling Youngstown State on the road 56-17. James Madison remained No. 2 and Weber State held steady at No. 3.
Previous No. 4 Kennesaw State (7-2) dropped seven slots to No. 11 after a 45-21 home loss to Monmouth (7-2), which enters the Top 25 at No. 20.
This shift, and a pair of upcoming wins at home against teams ranked in the Top 12, could have a major bearing on the Jacks’ playoff seeding.
The Jacks return home the next two weekend to host a pair of teams ranked in the Top 12.
Illinois State visits on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Redbirds dropped five spots from No. 7 to No. 12 after a 27-10 loss at home to then-No. 10 Northern Iowa.
The Panthers, up three spots to No. 7 after that win, visit Brookings the next week.
