SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — An inmate at the South Dakota State Penitentiary assaulted a guard who was later taken to the hospital Tuesday, according to the state Department of Corrections.
The DOC says the guard suffered a facial laceration, but has recovered and returned to work Wednesday.
The assault is under investigation.
