Brookings, S.D. (KELO.com) — Officials say the Thursday explosion and fire that killed one man was caused by a natural gas leak.
On Thursday, Brookings firefighters responded to calls of an explosion and a house fire. Once firefighters had the fire under control, they were able to search the home and found a deceased male inside.
Fire Chief Darrell Hartman says the initial explosion was at the back of the house. Authorities are not releasing the man’s identity until an autopsy is completed on Monday.
