SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The City of Sioux Falls is doubling down on social distancing.
Just one day after limiting gatherings to 50 people or less in city-owned facilities, the new plan is to limit it to ten people or fewer.
UPDATE: The Sioux Falls City Council unanimously approved the ordinance at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Mayor Paul TenHaken is asking – not ordering – that all bars and restaurants in town close to inside customers. He’s encouraging customers to continue to support these businesses through carry-out and drive-thru.
TenHaken says he’s met with a group of bar and restaurant owners and they are worried about the impact.
“There was kind of a tension and a mood in the room that was really rough. They didn’t know what to do. They were shell-shocked.”
There may be federal help on the way for businesses and their workers hurt by the Covid-19 Crisis. There is a new community effort to help as well, called the One Sioux Falls Fund.

The situation for small businesses is worse in neighboring Iowa and Minnesota. The Governors have ordered, not requested, that all bars, restaurants, theaters, casinos, and the like close to inside customers.
