SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The One Sioux Falls Fund, set up to help people economically disadvantaged by the coronavirus pandemic, has raised over $1 million in less than two days.
Mayor Paul TenHaken confirmed the amount Wednesday as part a Facebook Live update on the city’s coronavirus response.
“You need to stop and think about what a community you live in, that we have this fund that’s north of a million dollars already in less than 36 hours,” TenHaken said.
TenHaken said the influx of donations included “some large corporate gifts from some key philanthropic businesses in our city.”
The fund is particularly aimed at people who have difficulty paying for housing as a result of COVID-19.
