SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls area may have its first community spread of the coronavirus.
That’s what Mayor Paul TenHaken tells the Sioux Falls Board of Health.
“I have received phone calls and information from very credible health care sources, that there is likely some cases of confirmed community spread in our county.”
TenHaken says if the community spread is confirmed, it will require even more aggressive responses from the city. The Board of Health may be asked by the mayor to mandate closings of non-essential businesses.
The Board may meet again as early as Wednesday, March 25, to consider TenHaken’s recommendations, in what is becoming an ever more fluid situation, with the data changing by the hour.
TenHaken assures the Board not to worry about any decisions it may make because the recommendations are coming from him and the “buck” stops with the mayor.
