SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District’s daily email update to parents and students for March 26:
Sioux Falls School District Staff and Families – Please find your daily update for Thursday, March 26, 2020:
+ Remote learning continues to teach us all! If you are having trouble with technology or have questions about an assignment, reach out directly to your child’s teacher or call the school office during normal school hours. Paper packets are available for those without internet access. FREE wifi can be accessed at the following locations: Harmodon Park, Levitt at the Falls, Downtown SF (Phillips Ave.), Howard Wood Field Parking Lot, SF Regional Airport.
+ At the start of each school year, middle and high school parents are given the option to purchase insurance to protect their child’s Chromebook while on loan from the school. Now that devices have been sent home, the District is offering families a pro-rated Chromebook insurance plan for $10. The insurance covers device breakage for the remainder of the school year. Reach out to your child’s school if you’d like to purchase this coverage. The plan does not cover theft or intentional damage. Read more at: Student/Parent Chromebook and Equipment Responsibilities.
+ FREE daily meals for children, ages 1 to 18, continue for as long as schools are closed at Laura B. Anderson, Hawthorne, Hayward, Anne Sullivan, Terry Redlin, Lowell and identified bus routes in the community. Nearly 2,700 breakfasts and 2,200 lunches went to SF students today!
+ Staff and families at Whittier Middle School were notified today that a student has tested positive for COVID-19. The SD Department of Health assures us that the student’s last day of attendance and the date when symptoms appeared mean there was no risk for the illness being transmitted to others at the school.
+ If you or a family member need financial or emotional support, please contact helplinecenter.org or call 211. A range of services are available to help individuals and families through this difficult time.
+ When routines are disrupted, reading, music, and exercise are great stress relief. SFSD will be teaming up with the City of Sioux Falls to encourage expression by art next week. More details to come!
+ Be Well!
