SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Keeping a careful eye on the Covi-19 curve in Sioux Falls.
“This will be the new normal now. We will see more cases daily and that will continue to happen,” predicted Mayor Paul TenHaken at Monday’s briefing.
Using a graph to illustrate, TenHaken explained the “good peaks” and “bad peaks” in the curve of the disease, most importantly as it worsens before it flattens out in the weeks ahead.
Basically a good peak is having enough health care capacity to handle new cases. A bad peak is more cases than capacity. TenHaken says city officials are in constant touch with local and state health officials to try to stay ahead of the curve. So far, so good.
Most businesses seem to be abiding by the new restrictions the city imposed to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
“We found that most businesses are in compliance on that, which we really have appreciated, so thanks to the business community.”
