SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Street construction update:
41st Street and Western Avenue
Construction to Begin
Beginning on Monday, April 6, 2020, the intersection of 41st Street and Western Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as work begins during the reconstruction project.
Work on this project will include underground utility upgrades, street light and traffic signal improvements, reconstruction of the intersection surfacing with additional left and right turn lanes, and improvements to sidewalks and accessible curb ramps.
One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times with the exception of approximately four weeks this summer when Western Avenue north of 41st Street will be closed. Although traffic will be maintained, motorists should expect delays while driving through the work zone.
This project is expected to be fully open to traffic by late Fall 2020 with minor work to continue into Spring 2021.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
