SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A study by two long term care organizations say it would cost just under $3 million dollars to test all nursing home and assisted living residents and staff for the coronavirus.
The American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living says there are over 19,000 residents and staff who should be tested in South Dakota.
Last week, the state of South Dakota began its first phase of testing long term care residents and staff on a voluntary basis.
The groups say it would cost $672 million to test all residents and all staff members in all of the United State’s long-term care facilities.
