SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Monday morning at 7:12 AM Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 800 block of N. Savannah Dr. for reports of a structure fire.
The first arriving fire company discovered a single family home with fire shooting out of the front window. Radio reports indicated that the occupants of the home had safely exited prior to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue’s arrival. The majority of the fire was quickly extinguished, and a rapid search of the living areas was conducted confirming that no one remained in the home. Final extinguishment was completed, and crews ensured there was no extension of fire. The home was heavily damaged by fire and smoke.
No civilian or firefighter injuries occurred during this incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and the Sioux Falls Police Department.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 3 support vehicles, and 23 fire personnel. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to thank the following for their assistance on this incident: Metro Communications, PatientCare EMS, the Sioux Falls Police Department, and Xcel energy.
The importance of functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as having established escape plans, in case of fire, cannot be overstated as they save lives.
