SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Area Metro bus driver in Sioux Falls tested positive for COVID-19.
The driver tested positive on Tuesday, April 14, and last drove for SAM paratransit on Friday, April 10 and on Saturday, April 11. The South Dakota Department of Health is contacting all paratransit riders that were on board with the driver on those days.
The driver was wearing a mask and plastic gloves while driving both of those days.
Starting in early March, SAM staff began extra cleaning of all buses, especially high touch areas. Since March 27, SAM has allowed only up to nine passengers per fixed-route bus and up to two passengers for each paratransit bus to increase social distancing measures.
SAM is currently looking at additional precautions to protect riders and SAM staff and to prevent the spread of the virus causing COVID-19.
