SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls’ restriction on non-essential business traffic is up for an extension of more than three weeks at the City Council’s meeting Tuesday night.
If passed, no more than 10 customers would be allowed in many businesses through May 15.
Mayor Paul TenHaken had proposed putting a stay-at-home order in place for Sioux Falls, but pulled his support for the move on Friday. The ordinance remains on the council’s Tuesday agenda but is expected to be withdrawn.
TenHaken suggested strengthening the “no more than 10” ordinance up for extension Tuesday as an alternative to a stay-at-home order. The ordinance could be amended Tuesday.
Also on the council’s Tuesday agenda: officially moving the 2020 city and school board elections to June 2. South Dakota municipalities got the green light from the state legislature to push back their election dates on March 30. The move would line the city election up with the state primary election, as well as similar votes in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.
