SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls halfway house, the Arch, is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.
Officials say that 14 residents and two employees have tested positive.
The Arch is a rehabilitation facility for drug and alcohol abuse, so residents live in close proximity to one another.
The Good Samaritan Society’s Sioux Falls Village has also been dealing with a major coronavirus outbreak at its assisted living facilities.
By far the largest single outbreak in Sioux Falls is at the Smithfield meatpacking plant. The plant has over 760 cases.
S.D. Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon said she was not aware of the situation yet but would check into it. Staff at The Arch say they have not been formally notified by the state, the city, or their management about the positive cases.
