SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District has been keeping in touch with parents and students via email.
Here is the email from 4/22/20:
Hello Sioux Falls School Staff and Families. The spring weather is always a welcome sign! We hope you and your family have been able to enjoy the sunshine while still practicing social distancing. Perhaps you are taking part in Mayor Paul Ten Haken’s “100 Miles in 100 Days” challenge! This could be a great family activity! #100Miles100DaysSF
+ The District continues to implement best practices to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Phones and emails are being answered, even though school offices are opened only limited hours, so please reach out with technology and homework questions. Plans are in the works to return personal items to students. Your school will be communicating details to you in the coming weeks.
+ IMPT: In an effort to reduce the number of “contacts” our staff have with people each day, we are implementing a change to food distribution. The same number of meals will be provided to each child/family, however, we are reducing the number of days our staff deliver them to the six school locations. Starting immediately, we are going to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday distribution of food at our six school locations: Anne Sullivan, Lowell, Hayward, Hawthorne, Laura B. Anderson, and Terry Redlin. Lunches and school supplies delivered by bus will continue with the Tuesday, Thursday schedule at identified stops. Children will still have access to five breakfasts and five lunches each week. However, rather than coming to the school each day, they will receive two meals on some days (one to save for the next day). Meal pickup is from 11:30-12:30 M, W, F going forward. Please help us spread the word!
+ SFSD is joining the effort to show appreciation for healthcare workers in South Dakota by taking part in “Let It Shine SD.” Homeowners and businesses are asked to turn on their outdoor lights as a show of support for those on the frontlines. SFSD is lighting up Howard Wood Field. Please consider how you can “Let It Shine” in your own way! #ProudToBeSFSD
+ Thank you for your continued partnership in remote learning. We continue to be inspired by focused work and dedication of students, staff, and families. #ProudToBeSFSD
