SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Maher said reopening local schools this academic year remains off the table.
Maher told KELO Radio’s It’s Your Business he respects Gov. Kristi Noem’s back to normal guidelines, which encourage schools to look into returning to in-person instruction. He said returning to the classroom in Sioux Falls would be more trouble than it’s worth.
“We have a good thing going with the remote learning. It is not perfect by any means. But I think to transition back to face-to-face level would be more detrimental than continuing the remote learning,” Maher said.
Gov. Noem’s guidelines leave it up to local school boards to do what they think is best for their students.
