SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — JJ’s Wine and Spirits will host a short-notice, pop-up community blood drive on Friday, May 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. With all donors receiving a certificate for a free pint of their favorite brew at a future date, compliments of JJ’s.
“We are looking for our community members to come to our aid once again, as we prepare to strengthen our blood supplies in our local hospitals for the COVID-19 surge,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Over the last few weeks, we have not required as many donations since multiple surgeries have been postponed. As the hospitals slowly begin to open up for elective surgery, we need donations to keep supplies strong to address both the additional surgery cases and the anticipated surge with COVID.
Donors must be a least 16 years old, weigh 110 lbs or more, and be in good health. Community Blood Bank adheres to all CDC, FDA, and AABB policies associated with COVID-19, including sanitizing of all work areas after each donation, use of face masks and social distancing where possible. Community Blood Bank will be accepting donations from those with pre-scheduled donations only.
