SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Work on Kirby Dog Park begins on Wednesday.
Kirby Dog Park at Fort Sod
Beginning on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, construction of the new Kirby Dog Park at Fort Sod, located at the southeast corner of East 11th Street and Second Avenue will begin.
This project will create two fenced-in areas for park users and their dogs to safely recreate in downtown Sioux Falls. Specific improvements to be completed with the project include connective pathways, concrete plaza space, open space with artificial turf, drinking fountains, shade structures, ornamental fencing, historical interpretive information, pedestrian lighting, tree plantings, landscaping, and park signage.
Parking along the east side and north side of the park will be eliminated during construction.
East 11th Street and Second Avenue will remain open to traffic. Traffic control will be in place. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution near construction activity.
This work is anticipated to be complete mid-August.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
