SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Street construction update:
Street Closure – Western Avenue
Beginning on Monday, May 18, 2020, South Western Avenue north of 41st Street will be closed as part of the next phase of the reconstruction of the intersection of 41st Street and Western Avenue. Western Avenue south of 41st Street will remain open to traffic, as will all of 41st Street.
Work will include underground utility upgrades, street light and traffic signal improvements, reconstruction of the intersection surfacing with additional left and right turn lanes, and improvements to sidewalks and accessible curb ramps.
Weather permitting, Western Avenue north of 41st Street is anticipated to reopen to traffic in approximately four weeks.
This project is anticipated to be fully open to traffic by late fall of 2020, with some minor work continuing into the spring of 2021.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closure – Kiwanis Avenue
Beginning on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, the outside northbound lane of North Kiwanis Avenue will be closed between Eighth Street and Ninth Street.
Straightline Directional Boring will be performing utility work.
This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day on May 12, 2020.

Street Closure – 13th Street
Beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2020, East 13th Street will be closed from Phillips Avenue to First Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement patching.
Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed within one week.

Street Closure – Judy Avenue
Beginning on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, South Judy Avenue will be closed between 41st Street and 42nd Street to allow crews to perform sanitary sewer repairs.
Weather permitting, the work is anticipated to be complete in approximately one week.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Sanitary Sewer Repairs –
42nd Street, Genevieve Avenue, and Judy Avenue
Beginning on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, sanitary sewer repairs will be performed at the intersection of 42nd Street and Grace Avenue; 42nd Street and Florence Avenue; Genevieve Avenue and Judy Avenue both north of East Marson Drive.
Traffic will be maintained around the repair areas, however, lanes will be shifted and narrowed through the work zone.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks.
