SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police say the long Memorial Day weekend was a bad one for domestic violence.
“We got a lot of domestics,” said Officer Sam Clemens. “We’ve got people threatened with knives, a couple of people had guns pointed at them.”
Clemens said in one case, Robert Todd Sinyard, 47, from Sioux Falls, is accused of punching his partner, taping her hands with duct tape, and threatening her with scissors.
Sinyard is facing a variety of charges, including aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
In another family-related incident, a police standoff Sunday in Sioux Falls ended in tragedy for the suspect.
Clemens says the suspect in a family dispute and assault who then barricaded himself in his house committed suicide.
The authorities did not release the suspect’s name, as the Sioux Falls Police do not give out the names of suicide victims.
