SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls City Council has voted, unanimously, to repeal all COVID-19 restrictions on bars, restaurants, and other such businesses.
Councilor Curt Soehl says personal responsibility will now be critical.
“Now, if we continue to be diligent about this hopefully life can get back to some sort of normal. If we do not be diligent just because the rules are lifted, we are going to be in a terrible position…”
Council action repeals the ordinance that required seating capacity limits and spacing. Now it will be up to the businesses and their customers.
The TenHaken Administration says it is time to do this because COVID-19 medical models and projections are all looking good. For example, hospitalization rates are expected to be only a fraction of what was originally projected.
The repeal takes effect Friday.
