SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Crime marches on in Sioux Falls.
Here are highlights from Thursday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
ANOTHER UTILITY SCAM
Another Sioux Falls resident falls victim to a utility fraud.
Like yesterday’s scam, fraudsters called a 60-year-old woman and told her she needed to pay her Xcel electric bill immediately.
And like the previous scam, they told the woman to pay them $500 in MoneyPack.
Again, like the other scams, the scammers asked for more money after receiving the $500.
That alerted the woman to the scam, and she called Xcel.
The police say to contact your utility if you get a call like this.
GUY OPENS DOOR, WALKS INTO HOUSE, TRIES TO BEAT WOMAN
Sioux Falls Police are looking for a man who walked into a house in the 1200 block of 10th Street yesterday and assaulted a woman who lived there Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the assailant got on top of the woman and beat her.
She was able to get him off of her, and she went to a back bedroom to protect her children.
The man left.
The victim said she didn’t know the guy.
Police are looking for a short, light-skinned Black man, medium build, wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans.
The victim was not seriously hurt. The children were not harmed.
