COLMAN, S.D. (KELO.com) — The 147th Army Band of the South Dakota National Guard rocked students and staff at Colman-Egan Public School this afternoon. The band is based in Mitchell but travels across the United States and has even performed in other countries. Sgt. Lisa Groon noted the purpose of the school tour is to connect with communities and students to help them understand the opportunities available to them in the National Guard. Multiple groups travel across South Dakota according to Sgt. Jason Groon, band director for the Harrisburg school district. He said the school tour continues Thursday morning at Harrisburg High School. They will perform at Sioux Falls Lutheran on Friday.
