SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO.com) — An 85-year-old man is dead from a two-vehicle crash southeast of Sioux Falls.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the man was heading east on 85th Street Monday afternoon when he collided with a northbound truck.
He was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The impact of the crash caused the truck to roll on its side. That driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

One person dies and another person is injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Sioux Falls.
A 2020 Ford F150 pickup was eastbound on 85th Street and collided in the uncontrolled intersection with a 2007 Sterling LT9000 truck that was northbound on Sycamore Avenue. The pickup remained on its wheels while the truck came to rest on its driver’s side.
The 85-year-old male driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sustaining serious non-life-threatening injuries was the 47-year-old male driver of the truck. He was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Names of the two drivers are not yet being released pending notification of family members. They were the only people involved.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
