PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office files a simple assault charge against a former Sioux Falls police officer.
Joseph Michael Larson, 32, is the defendant.
The AG’s office says the charge stems from an incident on July 24, 2021 while Larson was acting as a Sioux Falls Police officer.

PIERRE, S.D. – The office of the South Dakota Attorney General announced today that a Complaint and Information charging Simple Assault (SDCL 22-18-1(1)) has been filed against former Sioux Falls police officer Joseph Michael Larson, 32 of Sioux Falls. The case stems from an incident in which Larson was acting in his capacity as a Sioux Falls Police Officer on or about July 24, 2021, in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota.
The prosecution of the case will be handled by the Office of the Attorney General. Any individual named is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
